Innovation Initiative

The Innovation Initiative Task Force works on innovation process management and innovation governance in relation to service innovation in healthcare.

The group has built on a set of good practices and has compared service innovation to technical innovation. As a result, the group has developed a Service Readiness Level (SRL) Model that complements the well-known Technology Readiness Level (TRL) Model. It has also built a roadmap to support service innovators in managing the whole scaling-up process.

The Innovation Initiative Task Force aims to:

  • Support healthcare providers and users in achieving the most benefits from innovative eHealth solutions
  • Provide a platform for all participants to work together, learn how to deliver innovative solutions in healthcare through the deployment of information and communication technologies, and share experiences and lessons learned
  • Promote the uptake of eHealth-based innovations by healthcare providers and users

The core members of the Innovation Initiative Task Force are innovation agencies. All EHTEL’s Members are invited to join the meetings. Other interested organisations can apply to participate.

The next topic the Task Force will focus on is digital therapeutics and the role it can play in care in the hospital and at home. This topic is closely related to Artificial Intelligence as a means to optimise digitalisation processes in healthcare. The Task Force has developed a work programme that includes a series of webinars. The webinars’ objective will be to exchange practical experience in this domain.

EHTEL has a longstanding track record of engaging in meaningful services, enabled through adoption methodologies, in the domain of digital health. To do this, EHTEL has fostered stakeholder dialogue – both formally and informally – with many other groups. The association has enabled an active dialogue with European policymakers, projects, initiatives and with fellow stakeholder organisations in the field. Examples of EHTEL’s work include activities in the JAseHN Joint Action, on EHTEL's Innovation Initiative, and in projects like Digital Health Uptake, SCIROCCO Exchange, SCIROCCO, Momentum, and vCare.
