xShare webinar
The EU funded xShare project is designed to prepare the concrete implementation of the European Health Data Space (EHDS). It explores current and prospective use cases which can “activate” the European Electronic Health Record formats (EEHRxF) identified by the regulation. The xShare yellow button is meant to provide citizens with a simple tool which will provide the right not only to access but also to “act on” their own data.
What do these developments imply?
The developments open important new perspectives for public and population health. They suggest major expected efficiency gains in data collection and validation, and much more. Four possible directions are on offer. Developments hold the promise of near-real time monitoring of important indicators, support for new policy decisions, adding to processes and knowledge, and bringing into the public health domain new types of data produced by or under the control of the citizen. Often those innovative use cases can build on each other, thereby further increasing their societal value and impact.
What has xShare been doing?
xShare has studied in detail the first Member States’ initiatives which have created a direct connection between primary and secondary use of health data (sometimes called the “only once” strategy). Specifically, it has prioritised use cases related to infectious diseases, cancer monitoring, and antimicrobial resistance. It has studied the connection with the EEHRxF and the Patient Summary. In relation to the EEHRxF, a new extension has been proposed by xShare to support both clinical research and public health.
What are the webinar aims?
This webinar will:
-
share xShare's current main findings with an informed audience and involve important ongoing Joint Actions in a panel discussion.
-
shed light on the importance to work on a better alignment between data models and standards used in clinical care and public health.
