i~HD, the European Institute for Innovation through Health Data, held the first ever major European conference dedicated to health data quality in Porto, Portugal, in November 2022.
This hybrid event was attended by over 400 experts, who represented multiple public and industry stakeholders. They included people from key policy-making bodies, such as the European Commission, the World Health Organization, and several national governments.
A number of i~HD partners participated at the event: some as speakers, others as rapporteurs. Many useful comments and inputs were captured.
i~HD experts consolidated these inputs into two conference outputs:
- The report of the conference
- The i~HD Porto Declaration on Health Data Quality 2022
EHTEL is pleased to collaborate with i~HD on health data and other initiatives like the mHealthHub.
Call for action, calls for endorsement
The 2022 Porto declaration makes five clear statements about expectations with regard to how to handle the assessment, labelling, and improvement of the quality of health data.
The declaration currently has 23 signatories.
The power of a declaration depends on the stakeholders that support it. To express your own, or that of your own organisation, support for the declaration, send an email to confirm your position to jens.declerck@i-hd.eu, Data Quality Manager, along with a high-resolution logo of your organisation.
i~HD is already planning a follow-up event on health data quality in 2023.
The aim of the 2023 event will be to:
- continue the momentum created on health data quality and its assessment, labelling, and improvement
- pursue the calls to action outlined in the declaration.
