Artificial Intelligence and Precision Medicine: Kelyon Supports Research to Fight Antibiotic Resistance
Artificial intelligence applied to clinical and microbiological data can make a tangible contribution to the fight against antibiotic resistance. This observation is confirmed by a research study coordinated by IDI-IRCCS in Rome and conducted in collaboration with Kelyon, an EHTEL member.

Europe’s thinking on health data uses and AI: What’s the latest?
On 29-30 April 2026, several expert-level meetings, supported by the Cyprus Presidency of the European Union at the closing conference of the Xt-EHR joint action, took place on important AI-related topics. The chief subject of discussion was about building a robust and secure AI-enabled connected Health Data Space.

The shift towards “high-hanging” fruit: AI increasingly on the agenda
Artificial intelligence is now truly on everyone’s agenda. From visions of the Fourth – and even Fifth – Industrial Revolutions to pleas for the safeguarding of human beings in papal encyclicals, a shift is occurring from the simple notion of digital transformation to the more radical AI transformation of health and care systems. EHTEL has made substantial commitments to AI for health and care over the years, exploring its importance not only contemporarily, but increasingly in the future.

News from Cyprus: health data uses and AI
Several key messages emerged from a series of expert meetings held in late April 2026 by the Cyprus Presidency of the European Union at the closing conference of the Xt-EHR joint action. Three messages have considerable relevance for the European Health Data Space (EHDS) and its future developments, and are especially close to implementers’ hearts: from policy to implementation; integrating primary and secondary uses of data; and artificial intelligence (AI) as an enabler.
